Written in 1955 by Hy Zaret, with music by Alex North and vocals by Todd Duncan, “Unchained Melody” is one of the most popular and beloved songs in the world. Over 1500 recordings of the song have been made by over 670 artists in multiple languages. The most recognizable version is probably that of The Righteous Brothers.

The Righteous Brothers’ cover was released in 1965, ten years after the original song. But their rendition is now widely considered the definitive version of the song. Its magic has only increased over the course of time. The song has been featured in lots of movies, including the 1990 film, Ghost, starring Patrick Swayze. The classic made it back on the Billboard Top 100 after it was used in the movie.
